O melhor e mais completo grupo vocal do nosso país, visto que é o único que sobrevive até hoje depois daquela invasão que houve nos anos 60 e 80. Eles sempre estiveram presentes com arranjos sublimes, o mais fino timbre vocal, além de serem fiéis companheiros de Chico Buarque em suas próprias gravações. Apesar de serem conhecidos intérpretes, também tinham poucas composições, quase sempre de autoria do Magro, o genial arranjador e membro do grupo. Seus compositores favoritos estão entre Ivan Lins, Gonzaguinha, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento e outros, dos quais sempre faziam interpretações e novas leituras, quase sempre melhores do que as originais! Muito mais do que dar o currículo do grupo aqui, meu melhor testemunho é o de paixão definitiva sobre o som desses caras. Música brasileira da melhor qualidade!!! O pacote inclui um ótimo rip do vinil original, além de suas capas escaneadas!

The best and most complete vocal group from our country, seen that they're the only ones who are left from the invasion happened in the 60's and 80's. They've always been there with devine arrangements, the finest vocal timbers, besides of being faithful companions of Chico Buarque in his own recordings. Most known as interpreters, they also had their own few compositions, mostly authored by Magro (Thin), the genious arranger and member of the group. Their favourite composers rank as Ivan Linms, Gonzaguinha, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento and others, from wich they made new interpretations and arrangements, mostly better than the original ones! Much more than telling the curriculum of the group here, the best testimonial i can make it's of total passion by the sound of these guys. Brazilian muisc at it's best!!! The package includes a great rip from the original LP, and it's covers scanned!

Ôôô Meu Deus!!!! A quanto tempo eu não escuto um disco que me dá vontade de passar pra todo mundo! Lindo, lindo, lindo e eu EXIJO que todos que passem por aqui peguem esse disco. Não é só mais um dos vários grupos vocais que apareceram no Brasil nessa época. Os caras compunham muita coisa, como se vê no disco, e na verdade não tem nenhuma timbragem genial em suas vozes. Tem muito mais musicalidade, e esse parece ser o ponto alto do grupo. Não sei se eles tem mais discos além desse, mas tenho certeza que nunca saiu em CD! A propósito, o José Rodrigues é sim o Zé Rodrix, e este é um de seus primeiros registros fonográficos, assim como David Tygel é o que depois integraria o Boca Livre. Vale lembrar que os arranjos do disco são do genial Rogério Duprat!!! "Passa ontem" é simplesmente genial, abre o disco divinamente, muito bem humorada! "Três pontas" tem um arranjo cheio de referências a trens passando, muito boa também! "Dos caminhos longoesteanhos até chegar junto dela" além de ter um nome supimpa, é uma das faixas mais interessantes do disco, arranjo delicios e dançante! "No brilho da faca" é linda. "Classe dominante" é irônica, uma critica mordaz e bem humorada! "Próton, electron, neutron" de Marcos Valle tem uma ótima versão aqui. Enfim, destaco praticamente o disco todo. O pacote vem com o LP ripado em 192kbps, com as capas escaneadas! Antes que eu fale mais merda, copio aqui as notas originais do LP, que mostram toda a preocupação e pesquisa do grupo:

Ooo Heavens!!! It's been so long since i've heard an album that makes me feel like passing it to everyone! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and i DEMAND that everyone who passes by here get this album. Not only one more of the various vocal groups that showed up in Brazil at that time. The guys wrote their own material, as you see on the album cover, and actually didn't have any original timber on their voices. Much more musicality, and this seems to be the high spot of the group. I don't know if they have any more albums besides of this, but i'm sure it never saw a release on CD! By the way, José Rodrigues IS Zé Rodrix, and this is one of his firsts phonographic registers, such as David Tygel is the one who'd later on join Boca Livre (Free mouth). It's good to remind that the arrangements are of the genious Rogério Duprat!!! "Passa ontem" (Drop by yesterday) is simply genious, opens the album devinely, very well humoured! "Três Pontas" (Three spots) has an arrangement full of references to a train passing by, very good! "Dos caminhos longoestranhos até chegar junto dela" (Of the longstrangepaths until get close to her) besides of having a great name, is one of the most interestingtracks of the record, delicious and dancing arrangement! "No brilho da faca" (In the spark of the knife) is beautiful. "Classe dominante" (Dominant class) is ironic, a heavy critic andvery well humoured! "Proton, electron, neutron" by Marcos Valle has a great version here. Well, i underline the whole album. The package comes with the LP ripped in 192kbps, with scanned LP covers! Before i say more shit, i copy and translate here the original liner notesof the LP, who shows the research purpose of the group:

"This first LP of us was made very conciently. It represents our conception of popular brazilian music - it's actuality inside a social-cultural structure. Popular music to us isn't only sound,musical virtuosity. It can't be away of what's all around it. Who intends to work with art - and art is communication - has to integrate the present life on it. Otherwise it'll be absolutely worthless. The passivity, the over value or a reformist mentality violent the way of the future. And this future becomes a threat.

José Rodrigues, Ricardo Sá, Maurício Mendonça and David Tygel; we are the MOMENTO 4UATRO (MOMENT FOUR). First of all we are responsible for what we make. We chose Duprat and Cozzela to write our arrangements because their work is very close to ours. They understood immediately what we wanted to do. One of the important points to observe is the unity of our record. Eu ADORO esse disco! O Terço é uma banda muito esquecida aqui no Brasil, e fez muito mais do que revelar Flávio Venturini e Sérgio Hinds. O baixista Luiz é uma tremenda figura também , tem até uma página maravilhosa em homenagem a ele, mas não lembro o link agora. Procurem, acha fácil até! Bom, é um dos discos de rock progressivo mais acessíveis que eu já ouvi, e tal qual o Genesis não deixa de ser incrível! Mas a comparação não é válida. O Terço tem uma identidade genuinamente brasileira. O ofrmato de canção está presente em todas as músicas, nada de riffs repetidos nem música erudita picada. Um disco extremamente coeso e que tem uma cara própria, diferente dos outros trabalhos do grupo, sem ser totalmente dieferente. "Flor de la noche" é uma melodia linda e maravilhosamente diferente em suas duas versões. "Guitarras" é um instrumental maravilhos, a mais progressiva do disco. "Eu vi aquela lua passar é uma bobagenzinha delíciosa, "O vôo da Fênix" é um rock n' roll, bem progressiva também, e bem densa. Eses são meus destaques do disco, mas ressalvo que ele tem uma unidade praticamente indissolúvel. Vale a pena ouvir a coisa toda. É curtinho, tem uns 30 minutos só. E pasmem, é uma edição italiana da Vinyl Magic! Eu tenho o vinil nacional aqui em casa, capa dupla, lindão. A edição em CD da Vinyl Magic, como sempre, é totalmente fiel ao formato do LP original (haja vista o nome, né?). O pacote vem com as músicas e todos os scans das capas. E quanto a um sujeito que tem criticado a qualidade dos meus arquivos... Prefiro nem comentar, mas saibam que é um ótimo rip, mesmo com a qualidade de 128kbs. Pelo menos pra mim, soa muito bem. Tamanho não é documento. Também, tem gente que tem preguiça de usar o equalizador do Winamp, que por sinal é ótimo. DIVIRTAM-SE! Audição extremamente prazerosa...

I LOVE this album! O Terço (It's a sort of necklace used here in Brazil for praying. I can't translate it) is a very overlooked band, and it's done so much more than revealing Flávio Venturini and Sérgio Hinds. The bass player Luiz is great guy, even has a hommage page for him, i can't recall the link now, but it's easy to find! Well, it's one of the most acessible progressive rock albums i've ever heard, and such as Genesis, it's still amazing. But the comparison isn't valid. O Terço has a genuine brazilian identity. The song format is present in all the songs, no repetitive riffs, nor even classical music sliced in bits. An extremely cohese record and has it's own "face", different of the other works of this group, but not being totally different. (Flower of the night) is a beautiful melody and marvelously different arranged in it's two versions. (Guitars) is a marvelous instrumental, the most "progressive" of the album. (I saw that moon pass me by) is a delicious silly one, (The flight of the Phoenix) is rock n' roll, quite progressive too, and quite dense. These are my underlines for this album, but i recall that it has a pratically undissolvable unity. It's worth hearing it all. It's short, about 30 minutes only. And look: it's an italian edition of Vinyl Magic! I have the original vinyl here at home, beautiful foldout cover. The CD edition of Vinyl Magic, as always, is faithful to the LP format (see the name?). The package comes with the songs and all artwork scans. And to a certain guy who's been criticizing the quality of my files... I'd rather not even comment, but know that it's a great rip, even with the quality of 128kbs. At least to me sound really well. Size doesn't mean quality. And there's also people who don't use the Winamp equalizer, wich is great, by chance. HAVE FUN! Extremely pleasurous listening...

** VIDEO!!! ** MATCHING MOLE - FRENCH TV CANAL JIMMY 1972 ** VIDEO!!!**

Um video curto, preto e branco, com boa qualidade de áudio e video, nem tão interessante, mas É COISA RARÍSSIMA! Pra quem não sabe, o saudoso Robert Wyatt, quando saiu (ou foi expulso) do Soft Machine, montou um dos grandes ícones da cena de Canterbury, o Matching Mole. O nome é uma brincadeira como o Soft Machine era conhecido na França, ou seja, Machine Mole, ou pra nós falantes de português, Máquina Molenga. Trata-se de mais uma das pérolas do acervo do Canal Jimmy (responsável pelo lindo especial do Genesis em Bataclan, 1973, já postado aqui), uma pena que seja tão curtinho, mas pelo menos dá pra ouvir a entrevista atrás da dublagem traduzida ao francês! Aqui pelo menos, o Wyatt diz que saiu do Soft Machine porque não estava feliz. Nós sabemos que a história é mais complicada que isso, mas enfim... Isso até explica o caráter incrível de músico do Wyatt. Por mais que a banda nítidamente seja um projeto dele, pois vemos muita experimentação, solfejos com timbres vocais super estranhos, e um delicioso bom humor, o trabalho do grupo tem uma cara de banda mesmo. É um dos alicerces dessa coisa meio jazz/meio prog de Canterbury. Bom, nesse vídeo vemos o Wyatt antes do acidente que o deixou paralítico da cintura pra baixo (obviamente), um trecho curto da banda ao vivo, um improviso muito calminho, com a câmera bem na cara do Wyatt. Na verdade, nesse video você só vê praticamente o Wyatt. Só se sabe que é a banda tocando, mas você só vê o Wyatt. E depois, uma entrevista com o Wyatt. E é assim. É coisa pra quem realmente é fã, ou colecionador fanático de progressivo. Ponto. Ah, o video está prontinho em formato VCD-NTSC, e tem só uns 30 megas.

A short black and white video, with good video and audio quality, not that much interesting, but IT'S RARE STUFF! For those who don't know, the devine Robert Wyatt, after leaving (or being expelled off) Soft Machine, came back with one of the great icons of the Canterbury scene, the Matching Mole. The name is a joke with the nickname of Soft Machine in France, wich was Machine Mole. It's one of the pearls taken from the Canal Jimmy archive (responsible for the wonderful Genesis special in Bataclan, 1973, also posted here), it's a pity that it's so small, but at least you can hear the interview below the french dubbing and translation! Here Wyatt says that he left Soft Machine because he wasn't happy. We know that the story is a bit more complicated than this, but well... This even explains the amazing character of Wyatt... For more that the band is a project of him, because we hear many experimentation, tickling with very weird vocal timbers, and a delicious good humour, the work of the group has a "band" quality. It's one of the landmarks fo the Canterbury mid-jazz/mid-prog thing. Well, in this video we see Wyatt before the accident that left him on the wheel chair (obviously), a short footage of the band live, a rather calm improvisation, with the camera right on Wyatt's face. In fact, in this video, you'll mostly see Wyatt. You just know that the band is playing, but you mainly see Wyatt. Then, an interview with Wyatt. And that's it. It's really fans stuff, or fanatic prog collector. Dot. Oh, and the video is ready in VCD-NTSC format, only about 30 megs.

BACON FAT - GREASE ONE FOR ME (1970) & TOUGH DUDE (1971)

Todos nós conheçemos bandas como "Savoy Brown" e o maravilhoso "Fleetwood Mac" quando ele era realmente maravilhoso... Mas o que mais tem nessa praia então além do incrível "Blues project" e dos "John Mayall's Bluesbreakers"? Comouma hipótese de resposta eu vos apresento o "Bacon Fat".

Mas é impossível falar do "Bacon Fat" sem falar do Rod Piazza. Um grande gaitista, os improvisos dele nos discos são matadores! Esse californiano começou a aparecer na "Dirty Blues band", gravando dois discos com eles nos anos de 1967 e 68. Se alguém tiver isso, me passa, por favor! Depois do lançamento deste segundo disco, Piazza saiu da banda pra cair na estrada com seu renomado ídolo George "Harmonica" Smith, se apresentando então como "Bacon Fat". Aparentemente, Rod Piazza, era a força motriz da banda. Vamos agora aos discos!

GREASE ONE FOR ME (1970) é um precioso registro de mestres do blues (J.D. Nicholson e George "Harmonica" Smith) trocando as nuances e técnicas populares do blues com jovens branquelos. Eu li umas resenhas que dizam que o Piazza "estaria mostrando seu futuro talento". Que nada! O importante mesmo é ver que a banda aqui mostra a boa vontade pra tocar junto. E além do mais, estou longe de ser um expert em blues pra destinguir a gaita de cada um. Só sei que é um disco excelente pra quando você tá afim de ouvir um bom blues tomando uma cerveja. E nunca foi lançado em CD! No pacote de arquivos você vai encontrar uma digitalização impecável das músicas, provavelmente extraídas de um vinil novinho, além das capas (frente e trás) e selos do vinil escaneados. Excelente!

TOUGH DUDE (1971) tem uma capa engraçada, não? Não é hilária, mas o que vocês tem contra o bom humor (lembrando que "Tough Dude" significa "cara forte")? E na época não era tão comum ver coisas assim. Um disco bem mais leve, de estúdio mesmo, bem produzido. Será? Pra mim é a edição em CD que detonou o disco... Dá pra notar que as frequencias estão reduzidas. Basta ver as capas do CD (que estão incluídas no pacote) pra perceber que se trata daquelas edições caseiras, ou tratadas com descuido. De todo jeito, como a banda só tem dois discos mesmo, vale a pena ficar com os dois! E este eu ouvi já faz mais tempo, se bobear, estou dizendo besteira. No mais, conto com comentários de vocês, porque eu só sei isso mesmo!

We all know bands like "Savoy Brown" and the marvelous "Fleetwood Mac" when it was really marvelous... But what else do we have of modern blues bands besides the amazing "Blues project" and "John Mayall's Bluesbreakers"? As a attempt to respond, i present you with "Bacon Fat".
But it's impossible to talk about "Bacon Fat" without mentioning Rod Piazza. A great harmonica player, his solos in the albums are killers! This californian began to show up in the "Dirty Blues band", recording two albums with them in 1967 and 68. If anyone has those, send me, please!After releasing the second album, Piazza left the band to go on the road with his well known idol George "Harmonica" Smith, presenting themselves as Bacon Fat". Apparently, Rod Piazza, was the band's driving force. Now let's go to the albums!

GREASE ONE FOR ME (1970) is a precious register of blues masters (J.D. Nicholson and George "Harmonica" Smith) trading the blues popular techniques with white young squishees. I've read some reviews saying that Piazza would be "showing his upcoming value". More than that! What really matters is to hear the good will of the band for jamming together. And else, i'm quite far from being a blues expert to destinguish one harmonica to another. I just know it's a great album when you feel like hearing some blues drinking a beer. And it was never released on CD! In the file package you'll hear an impecable digitalization of the songs, probably taken from a brand new vinyl, besides the covers (front and back) and the label scans. Excellent!
TOUGH DUDE (1971) has a funny cover, doesn't it? Not hilarious, but what do you have against good humour? And at that time it was not so common to see things like that. A lighter album, studio album, well produced. Does it? To me, the CD edition wrecked the album... You can hear that the frequencies are reduced. Just see the CD covers (wich are also in the package) to realize that it's one of those "run of the mill" editions, or carelessly treated. Anyway, since the band has only two albums, it's worth getting both! And i haven't heard this one in a while, so i may be saying shit. For more, i count on your comments, because that's all i know!

Muito bem pessoal! Me desculpem pela longa demora em outro post, mas essas duas semanas pra mim foram muitíssimo puxadas, me apresentei neste sábado e tive muitos ensaios... Mas isso não importa, não é mesmo? O que realmente importa é que finalmente está aqui atendido o pedido dos visitantes! Sim, estão aqui os dois e únicos videos que tenho da incrível Mahavishnu Orchestra... Eu sinto muito que não poderei falar muito sobre eles aqui, porque na verdade, apesar de admirar muito o trabalho do grupo, não conheço muita coisa sobre eles, e na verdade, não lá sou tão fã de jazz-fusion. O video de Nova Iorque é de 1973, só os primeiros segundos são preto e branco, logo depois fica colorido, e tem uma qualidade de som e imagem MUITO BOA! São dois arquivos independentes, um com "Hope - One word", que tem uma das melodias mais simples e impressionantes, muitíssimo poderosa... Logo depois a curtinha "Resolution", que fecha o show. Ah, e o Jean-Luc Ponty está na banda! O outro video é uma apresentação no Festival de Jazz de Montreux, até onde descobri, só pode ser de 1974, pois a música é do disco "Apocalypse", de 1974, apesar de não saber qual música é, e o show que eles fizeram lá de 1972, não chegou nem a ter o áudio gravado... O video de Montreux tem um áudio bom, mas a imagem está bem "desbotada". Enfim... É só isso que sei, pessoal, desculpem! O video de Montreux está dividido em 3 partes, tem que pegar todas, está pronto em formato VCD. O de Nova Iorque são dois videos independentes, ambos em formato VCD. Desculpem também por ter espalhado os arquivos em 3 hosts diferentes, mas eu tinha ficaodo muito decepcionado com o Badongo e decidi procurar outro... Mas agora eu e Badongo estamos entendidos, e tudo ficará mais fácil... Ok?

All right folks! I'm sorry for taking so long to post another, but these last 2 weeks were really tough on me, i've presented myself in the saturday, had lots of rehearsals... But that doesn't matter, dest it? What really matters is that finally is here attended the request of the visitors! Yes, here they are, the only two videos i have of the Mahavisnhu Orchestra... I'm sorry i can't tell you too much about them here, because in fact, i really admire the work of the group, don't know too much about them, and actually, i'm not a very much fan of jazz-fusion. The New York video is in 1973, just the first few seconds are black and white, it soon gets coloured, and it has REALLY NICE sound and image quality! Two independent files, one with "Hope - One word", wich has to me one of the most simple and powerful melodies... Right after the short one "Resolution", wich closes the show. Ah, and Jean-Luc Ponty is in the band! The another one is of the presentation in Montreux Jazz Festival, as far as i researched, it can only be of 1974, because the song is from the "Apocalypse" album of 1974, but i don't know wich song is it, and teh gig they played there in 1972 didn't have even a audio recording. This video has a nice audio, but the image is too old, those VHS's who are already losing their color. Well... That's all i know folks... Sorry! The Montreux video is splited in 3 parts, you "gotta catch them all", and it's ready in VCD format. The New York one are two independent videos, both in VCD format. Bem, bem bem... Se não é aquela banda que pra mim é a coisa mais maravilhosa e representativa que já saiu de Canterbury, o deliciosamente humorístico-surrealista Hatfield and the North! Ah! Eu sei que muita gente vai pular da cadeira e sair gritando pra toda a vizinhança ouvir quando ver este video postado aqui... Foi a minha mesma reação quando eu o vi pela primeira vez também! E ao vivo no tradicionalíssimo Rainbow Theatre, em 1975! E apresentados ao público por algum incompreensível garotinho inglês... Vai entender... Nesse video, você vai ouvir os seguintes temas, devidamente mesclados num delicioso e envolvente improviso, bem à moda Hatfield-Canterbury:

A qualidade da imagem é bastante razoável, considerando que, poxa, essas bandas estavam longe do mainstream! Difícil inclusive terem gravado algum video como este! E o som, de praxe, está muito bom, muito bom mesmo... Num aspecto geral, a qualidade é muito boa. Ripado de algum estranhíssimo VHS japonês, como você vai perceber no final! A performance é uma coisa única, pessoal... Vocês tem que pegar este video! Simplesmente perfeito! É ótimo ver a cara de concentração do Dave Stewart no teclado... Admito que eu tenho alguma birra estranha com o Richard Sinclair, mas, o cara toca muito baixo, e a voz de veludo dele é um colírio para os ouvidos, sem dúvida nenhuma... Phil Miller está numa noite muitíssimo inspirada, os solos são lindos, precisos, nada daquele exagero habitual dos guitarristas. O falecido Pip Pyle, grande força motriz do Hatfield, como todo bom baterista criado no jazz, está ali fazendo (e muitíssimo bem) o trabalho da cozinha. Todo fã de progressivo tem que ter este vídeo! Nada mais de raridade! Disponível para o deleite de todos agora! Aquele esquema de sempre... Está dividido em duas partes, 2 arquivos de uns 70mega cada, você tem que ter as duas partes pra descompactar, prontinho em formato VCD-NTSC. Divirtam-se!

The image quality is quite reasonable, considering that, damn, these bands were far from the mainstream! hard enough they had recorded such a video! And the sound, as usual, is really really good... In a nutshell, the quality is really good. Ripped out of some weird japanese VHS, as you'll see at the end! The performance is unique, folks... You have to get this video! Simply perfect! It's great to see the very focused face of Dave Stewart at the keyboards... I admit that i have a few things against Richard Sinclair, but, the guy is a great bassist, and his velvet voice is a delight for the ears, no doubt about it... Phil Miller is in a very inspired night, the solos are beautiful, precise, none of that exaggerated guitarist's things. The late Pip Pyle, Hatfield's real driving force, as all good jazz-based drummer, is there doing (and extremely well) the "kitchen" work. Every prog fan has to have this video! No more rarities! Avaliable to everyone's delight now! The usual scheme... It's splited in two parts, 2 files of about 70megs each, you gotta have all parts to decompress, is fully ready in VCD-NTSC format. Have fun!

Vídeo raríssimo de uma perfromance estonteante! Bom, pra quem não conhece, o National Health faz parte da "cena de Canterbury", uma região extremamente profíqua do progessivo inglês (tanto que recebeu tal nome), que conta com nomes como Camel, Hatfield and the North, Henry Cow, o próprio Matching Mole, Caravan, Soft Machine, Khan, enfim... São muitos, muitos mesmo... Se você não ouviu falar de nenhum desses nomes, faça a você mesmo um favor e descubra. Pode começar pegando esse vídeo! Aliás, vamos a ele. Não vou mentir pra vocês pessoal: A qualidade da imagem não é das melhores... Mas quero ver alguém arranjar esse video! Humpf! E a qualidade do som é muito boa, isso sim. Em 1979 o National Health grava, no lendário programa Old Grey Whistle Test da BBC (do naipe do Beat Club e derivados), onde também passaram Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, Focus e muitos muitos outros, The Collapso. Não tem como explicar o som... Passa bastante pelo jazz, com muito improviso, mas as estruturas são outra coisa. Só dá pra dizer que é o famoso "som de Canterbury"! Raridade pessoal... Well, for those who don't know, the National Health is part of the "Canterbury scene", very proiminent region of the british prog (thus the name), wich also is represented by names such as Camel, Hatfield and the North, Henry Cow, the very own Matching Mole, Caravan, Soft Machine, Khan, so... There are many, many really... If you never heard about any of those, do yourself a favour and find out. You can start by this video! Speaking of that, let's go for it. Lançado pelo imensamente respeitável selo Som da Gente em 1982, é um disco lindíssimo, e os agudos da Tetê estão divinamente gravados. O disco nunca saiu em CD, e está ripado de um vinil provavelmente intácto, qualidade de som ótima! Além disso, inclui scans de todo o vinil, capa, contracapa, interno e encarte! Além de ter citações importantes de renomados artistas sobre o trabalho, o disco ainda conta com músicas gravadas numa gruta do Mato Grosso (não me lembro qual, mas no disco fala), tem vários sons extraídos da natureza compondo os arranjos do disco. Bucólico. Divino!

More music from the mash regions of Brazil! This may generate various conflicts of esthetic order, but i'm a huge fan of Tetê Espíndola! In her records you can always listen to remarkable passages of the mid-south region of our country (notice the impossibiliy to translate some songs names). Released by the most respectable "Som da gente" (Our sound) label in 1982, it's a beautiful album, and Tetê's high pitches are devinely recorded. The album was never released on CD, and it's ripped of a probably intact vinyl, great sound quality! Besides, it includes scans of all the vinyl, cover, back cover, inlay and inside! Many remarkable quotas of known artists about the work, the record still counts with songs recorded in a cave at Mato Grosso state (can't recall wich, but it says on the album), many sounds extracted from nature's wilderness composing the record's arrangements. Bucholic. Devine!

Eu tenho esse em vinil! E agora posso perceber porque ele está ficando raro e valorizado no mercado. Nunca saiu em CD e é um dos melhores discos do Gonzaguinha, sem dúvida! Aliás, os 4 primeiros são, e este é o terceiro. Gravado com o grupo Modo Livre (que também acompanhou Ivan Lins, que aliás tem ótimos primeiros discos também, e também era do MAU - Movimento artistico universitário, assim como Gonzaguinha) em 1975. Até onde eu conheço o tabalho do saudoso filho do rei do baião, é o único que tem uma música instrumental, a primeira, que aliás é uma melodia ótima! "Tá certo, doutor" foi gravada pelo MPB-4 um ano antes, uma crítica ferrenha ao comportamento induzido pela ditadura no nosso país... Que mais... É um disco tão bom! Bem, destaco também as músicas "Gás neon", que acabou virando um de seus clássicos, sem ter nada de muito acessível. "Assim seja, amém" é simplesmente linda, uma música pra se ouvir com muito cuidado antes de pensar em ter filhos... "Suor e serragem" é no melhor estilo daquilo que hoje faz o movimento Mangue-Beat (e ainda dizem que esses caras são muito originais), uma letra maravilhosa sobre a "coragem" do homem... "Contos de fada" é uma pauleira danada, rock n' roll mesmo, agredindo a fantasia dos contos de fada, claro que num sentido amplo... E um dos grandes destaques para "Geraldinos e Arquibaldos", uma impressionante colagem de melodias, só com a voz do próprio Luiz Gonzaga Jr., dobrada e em arranjos diferentes, com uma letra maravilhosa sobre luta e resistência política... Há quem compare o Gonzaguinha com o Chico Buarque, e alguns até o preferem... Entendo bem a comparação, mas ele tem um trabalho muito mais pé no chão, também poético porém bem mais seco e totalmente centrado na crítica social e política, enquanto o Chico não se focava só nisso. Posteriormente, o Gonzaguinha também faria mais baladas e lindíssimas músicas românticas, mas aqui nessa época, ainda era uma crítica danada em todas as músicas. Sério mesmo, todas... É só pegar pra ouvir... Bom pessoal, é um disco raro, e eu recomendo bastante! Fiquem à vontade! E para aqueles que tem um certo preconceito com ele... Sugiro altamente que experimentem!

I have this one in vinyl! And now i can see why it's getting so rare and valoured in the market. Never released on CD, and it's surely one of the best albums by Gonzaguinha! Also, all his 4 first records are, and this is the third. Recorded with the Modo Livre (Free mode) group (wich also accompained Ivan Lins, who also has wonderful first records, and was also from MAU - College artistic movement, just like Gonzaguinha) in 1975. As far as i know the work of the son of the king of baião (he was son of Luiz Gonzaga), it's the only one who has a instrumental song, the first one, wich is great melody! "Tá certo, doutor" (All right, doc) was recorded by MPB-4 one year after, a severe critic to the behaviour induced by the dictatorship in our country... What else... It's such a good record! Well, i also highlight the songs "Gás neon" (Neon gas), wich became one of his classics, without being too accesbile... "Assim seja, amém" (Let it be, amen) is simply wonderful, a song to hear very carefully before deciding to have kids... "Suor e serragem" (Sweat and mown wood) is in the best style of what nowadays is done by the Mangue-Beat movement (and people keep saying that these guys are so original), wonderful lyrics about the men's "courage"... "Contos de fada" (Fairy tales) is really butt kicking, rock n' roll for real, agressing the fairy tales, of course in a very extended sense... And one of the geatest highlights goes to "Geraldinos e Arquibaldos", an impressive collage of melodies, only with the very own Luiz Gonzaga Jr. voice, doubled and in very different arrangements, with wonderful lyrics about fight and political resistence. It's a pity that non-portuguese speakers won't understand, but the music speaks for itself! If someone loves it too much, ask me and i'll translate some lyrics. There are people who compare Gonzaguinha to Chico Buarque, and some even prefer him... I can understand the comparison, but the has a far more "to the ground" work, also very poetic, but much more added to the social and political criticism, while Chico's focus wasn't only to that. Later on, Gonzaguinha would also do some ballads and beautiful romantic songs, but at this time, it was still a whole lot of critics in all songs. I mean it, all of them... Just get it and listen... Well folks, it's a rare record, and i recomend it too much! Be my guest! And for those who have prejudice towards him... I highly suggest you to exmperiment it!

A-há! Agora sim! Um grande e excelente video do Genesis! Logo depois da saída de Anthony Phillips, e depois de fixarem a nova e absolutamente definitiva formação clássica da banda, e logo depois de lançarem o incrível Nursery Cryme (1971), eles foram a Bélgica e nos dias 20 e 21 de março de 1972, gravaram este lindo, lindo, lindo, simplesmente lindo video com as seguintes músicas:

É uma performance que tem um frescor inimaginável. Peter Gabriel ainda não fazia todas as suas cenas no palco e não usava nenhuma fantasia nem cabelo raspado de formas muito estranhas, e se você reparar bem, ele até está com umas sutis costeletas por baixo dos longos cabelos. Tony Banks e Mike Rutheford estão finalmente chegando na forma definitiva de suas contribuições melódicas em seus instrumentos, tratando-os, como na música de Bach (fonte de inspiração marcante no Genesis), como vozes melódicas e harmônicas, Steve Hackett está mais tímido que de costume, mas com sua guitarra forte, que se impõe naturalmente, e que é definitiva e marcante nesse então novo som do Genesis, e claro, temos o melhor filha da puta de todos os tempos, Phil Collins, detonando essa bateria. Ai, é muito bom! Tinha muito tempo que não via este video. Fui assisitr de novo antes de postar aqui pra fazer a resenha. Em "Fountain of Salmacis", Gabriel canta "Within a hidden cave, nymphs have kept a child" ainda no agudo, diferentemente da versão de estúdio, e na verdade, esta foi a primeira vez que ouvi a música, foi neste vídeo. Já me encantou de primeira é claro! Lembro que na semana seguinte eu já estava procurando o disco nas lojas! O solo do Hackett no finalzinho, é extremamente contundente. "Twilight" pode ser novidade pra muitos. Na verdade, posteriormente, ela foi chamada de "Twilight Allehouse", foi gravada nas sessões do Nursery Cryme, mas não saiu no disco, posteriormente foi lançada em compacto, e é comum ouvi-la nos bootlegs ao vivo da época. Ela tem muito mais a ver com o som do disco anterior, "Tresspass" (1970). Mas é uma música linda! Eu adoro! Uma letra tão diferente das coisas do Genesis, muito bonita, extremamente solitária junto com a melodia, e fala justamente da solidão e do grande reconforto do vinho. "O vinho alivia a dor" (frase de Troy McLure, dos Simpsons! Hehehehe!). Além de ter uma bela sessão destinada ao lindíssimo improviso de faluta do Gabriel. Aproveitem! Acho que neste vídeo é um dos pocuso lugares onde se ouve (e se vê!) ele fazendo isso. "Musical Box" dá pra dizer em uma palavra: INTENSA! Rock n' roll puro, pauleira eles tocando aqui. E a mesma coisa pra "The return of the giant hogweed". Nessa, no final, parece que eles finalmente se soltaram, você percebe várias olhadas um pro outro, risadas ocasionais... É uma delícia! E o grito do Gabriel, que também não está no disco, mas está em todas as versões ao vivo que já ouvi e vi: "GIANT HOGWEED LIVES!". É supremo, arrebatador. Rock n' roll! Vídeo indispensável não só pra quem ama Genesis, ou quem ama os anos 60-70, mas pra qualquer pessoa que gosta de shows musicais, ou aprecia boa música. É intenso, nervoso. MARAVILHA DE VÍDEO! De todos do Genesis que eu conheço, é o meu favorito, sem dúvida, até mais do que o de Bristol. E como não poderia deixar de finalizar: Fora isso é isso mesmo, 4 arquivos, 3 de uns 100mega, e o último pequeno, menos de 10mega (não sei porque aconteceu assim, mas, vai assim mesmo), você tem que ter todas as partes pra descompactar, o vídeo está prontinho no formato VCD-NTSC, e agora já dá pra fazer uma bela coleção com os posts daqui, não dá? Não deixem de pegar as capinhas especiais da séria RAREVCD, que estão aí no post. Não estão no arquivo, ok? Esqueci de novo... Mas tá aí no post. Desnecessário dizer, mas: PEGUEM! É MARAVILHOSO! DE VERDADE!

Peter Gabriel wasn't yet doing his stage antics, not waering any costumes or strangely shaved hair, and if you look well, you can see some subtle sideburns beneath the long hair! Tony Banks and Mike Rutheford are finally getting to the definitive shapes of their melodic contributions in their instruments, treating them, as in Bach's music (remarkable inspiring source on Genesis music), as harmonic and melodic voices, Steve Hackett is even more shy than the usual, but with his strong guitar, wich naturally imposes itself, and it's definitive and remarkable in this Genesis' new sound, and of course, we have the greatest son of a bitch of all times, Phil Collins, kicking some ass in the drums. Ah, it's just too damn good! There was a long time i haven't watched this video, i've just seen it again to write the review. In "Fountain of Salmacis", Gabriel sings "Within a hidden cave, nymphs have kept a child" still in high pitch, diffrently from the studio version, and actually, in this video, was the first time i've heard the song. It was love at first sight! I remember the following week i was already looking for the album in the stores. Hackett's solo at the end, is extremely coningent. "Twilight" may be new to some people, some time after, it was baptized as "Twilight Allehouse", was recorded in the Nursery Cryme sessions, But it's not on the album. It was later released as a single, and it's rather common to hear it in the live bootlegs of this time. It is much more like the sound of the previous album, "Tresspass" (1970). But it's a wonderful son! I love it! Lyrics so different than the usual Genesis, very pretty, extremely lonely along with the melody, and it talks just about loneliness and the great recomfort by the wine. "The wine releafs the pain" (Simpons' Troy McLure quota! Hehehehe!). Besides, it has a beautiful section for the flute improvisation by Peter Gabriel. Look well at it! This video is one of the few places to hear (and see!) him doing it. "Musical Box" you can tell in one word: INTENSE! Pure rock n' roll they're playing here. Same goes to "The return of the giant hogweed". In this one, at the end, it seeems that the band finally got loose, you can see them looking at each other with occasional laughter... It's delectable! And Gabriel's screaming, also not in the album, but in every live versions i've seen and heard: "GIANT HOGWEED LIVES!". It's supreme, blockbustering. Rock n' roll! Indispensable video not only for Genesis lovers, or who loves the 60's-70's, but to anyone who likes musical shows, or just good musicl listeners. It's intense, nervous. MARVELOUS VIDEO! Of all Genesis videos i know, it's my favourite, no doubt about it, even more than Bristol. And, as usual, to finish: After all, it's all this, 4 files, 3 of 100megs, the last one small, less than 10megs (don't know why this happened, but there it goes), you gotta have all parts to decompress, the video is ready in VCD-NTSC format, and now you can make a nice collection wih these posts of mine, can't you? Don't forget the special covers of the RAREVCD series, they're here in the post. Not on the file, ok? Forgot it again... But it's in the post. Needless to say, but: GET IT! IT'S MARVELOUS! REALLY!

Modéstia à parte eu capturei umas boas fotos deste vídeo, não acham? Mas isso só é possível prorque o pessoal dessa TVamericana fez um ótimo trabalho! É verdade! O som está muito bom, e o vídeo é incrível, muitíssimo bem filmado, diferentemente dos outros videos de 70 que a gente vê por aí.

Uma pena é que não tenho muita informação desse video, mas dentre os mais famosos do Genesis com Peter Gabriel, é um dos mais raros! E é uma boa performance da banda... Watcher of the skies está impagável! É idêntico ao show dessa época, com todo o cenário, máscaras, jogos de luz, enfim, perfeito! E muito mais bem filmado do que o lendário show de Bristol (Oxford, apesar de que eu bato o pé, e pra mim é Bristol), na minha opinião. Ainda vou postar ese aqui também, algum dia. Aguardem! É que o video é muito grande, e eu estou com problemas de espaço no HD. Mesmo assim, já estou preparando o post do incrível video da Bélgica! Enquanto isso, nós amantes do progressivo (apesar desse nome ser coisa de mídia), podemos nos deleitar com mais essa maravilha. Aproveitem! Só não tem capinha especial porque este não é da série RAREVCD. Fora isso, a mesma coisa. 3 arquivos, 2 de uns 60megas, 1 de mais ou menos 30, você precisa ter todas as partes pra descompactar, está rpontinho em formato VCD-NTSC, blá, blá blá... PEGUEM! VALE A PENA!

Modesty aside, i've captured some nice pics of this video, don't you think? But this was just possible because the work of this amercican TV is great! Really! The sound is very good and the video is incredible, very well shot, differently of the other 70's videos that we see around.

It's a pity that i don't have too much information about this video, but among the most famous of Genesis with Peter Gabriel, it's one of the rarest! It's a good performance by the band... Watcher of the skies is great here! It's identical to the show at this time, with all scenery, masks, lighning, perfect! And it's quite better filmed than the legendary Bristol concert (aka Oxford, but i keep telling, to me it's Bristol), in my humble opinion. I still gonna post this one here, some day, wait for it! The video is too big, and i'm having trouble with low free space in the HD. Anyways, i'm preparing the post for the amazing Belgium TV video! While that, us prog lovers (but progressive rock is a media name), we can delight ourselves with this another wonder. Have fun! There's just no special covers for this one, because it's not on the RAREVCD series. Besides of that, it's the same thing. 3 files, 2 of about 60megs, 1 of around 30megs, you have to have all the parts to be able to decompress, it's ready in VCD-NTSC format, bla, bla bla... GET IT! IT'S WORTH!

Durante a segunda parte da turnê do Selling England by the pound, o Genesis foi aos estúdios da TV ORTF em Paris nos idos de 12 de fevereiro de 1974. Sim, é uma gravação de estúdio, por isso a qualidade do áudio e vídeo são ÓTIMAS! Mas cá entre nós, sendo sincero... ESSE VÍDEO É SIMPLESMENTE BIZARRO!!!
